"Only Connect..."
The author E.M. Forster asked that these words be inscribed on his tombstone. Two words after a lifetime of writing summed up his experience: "Only connect..." These words are at the core of my work.
Humans weren't built to go it alone--whether as individuals, families, couples/relationships, our sense of wellbeing is firmly grounded in our sense of connectedness with others. Connection is the foundation of my practice and my work is grounded in principles of Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) and Attachment Theory. While I primarily utilize the modalities of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), my work is also informed by Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Self-Compassion, Grief Work, and Narrative Therapy. I tailor my interventions to the unique needs of my clients given the goals, hopes, and challenges they present.
My work is deeply LGBTQ+ affirming/aligned and I strive to grow as an antiracist practitioner. My truth, I realize, is my own and I do not privilege it over the truths my clients bring to our shared space.
